“I always loved beauty never thought it would be my career…”
Starting a beauty blog in 2009 would be the spark that shifted Aishia’s career, focus, and professional interests. What began as a space to explore beauty evolved into a dedicated platform for hair, and ultimately narrowed into the world of natural hair—mirroring her own journey of returning to her curls.
By the summer of 2015, Aishia took her passion to the next level, enrolling in beauty school and connecting with her mentor and future business partner, Aeleise Olarvia. Together, they co-created two groundbreaking platforms: Black Girl Curls, which has educated tens of thousands of consumers on natural hair care, and Cut It Kinky, a professional education program that reshaped how stylists approach tight curls.
Over the years, Aishia has become recognized as a tight curl specialist, educator, and brand collaborator—partnering with professional stylists, product companies, and industry leaders to shift the culture of natural hair care. Today, as CEO + Creative Director of Black Girl Curls, she continues to innovate, bridging the gap between professionals, brands, and the natural hair community with education that is both practical and transformative.
